Known Appli­ca­tion

Stearyl acry­late known as 1-octade­­cyl acry­late, is a ver­sa­tile chem­i­cal that finds wide appli­ca­tions in var­i­ous indus­tries. One of its pri­ma­ry uses is in the man­u­fac­ture of adhe­sives and coat­ings. Octade­cyl acry­late serves as a binder in the for­mu­la­tion of pres­­sure-sen­si­­tive adhe­sives and is also used as a reac­tive dilu­ent in the pro­duc­tion of radi­a­­tion-cur­able coat­ings. In addi­tion, it can act as a co-monomer in the syn­the­sis of var­i­ous poly­mers, includ­ing block copoly­mers, graft copoly­mers, and crosslinked polymers.

Stearyl acry­late appli­ca­tion of octade­cyl acry­late is in the pro­duc­tion of sur­fac­tants, where it can act as a co-monomer in the syn­the­sis of acry­late-based sur­fac­tants. These sur­fac­tants have a wide range of appli­ca­tions, includ­ing in per­son­al care prod­ucts, deter­gents, and emulsifiers.

Stearyl acry­late is also used as a plas­ti­ciz­er and lubri­cant in the plas­tics indus­try. It is often added to poly­mers to improve their flex­i­bil­i­ty and tough­ness, as well as their pro­cess­ing prop­er­ties. Addi­tion­al­ly, it can serve as a lubri­cant in met­al­work­ing flu­ids, help­ing to reduce fric­tion and wear dur­ing machin­ing operations.
