2-eth­yl­hexa­­noic acid is com­mon­ly used as a plas­tic addi­tive, par­tic­u­lar­ly as a heat sta­bi­liz­er and lubri­cant in poly­mer pro­cess­ing. It improves the process­abil­i­ty of poly­mers, enhances melt flow, and reduces adhe­sion and fric­tion. And it can be used as an organ­ic sol­vent in prod­ucts such as coat­ings, inks, clean­ers, and adhe­sives. It has good sol­u­bil­i­ty and can dis­solve many organ­ic sub­stances, help­ing to adjust vis­cos­i­ty and flow prop­er­ties of the products.
